Simple Pleasures, #11
One of the most overlooked delights (in my opinion) is the anticipation of starting a good new book. I’m almost at the end of one that has fascinated me, but it’s like I’m already gone… I just keep looking over at the stack of books on my bedside table. Sigh. I have a sort of excited sense of delinquency, as though I’m cheating on my current book. It’s not that I don’t love you… and we’ve had wonderful times together! It’s just that… I’ve got eyes for another. In another night or two, it will be all over. By Friday night I might just be able to finally cuddle up with my fresh read!
Don’t get me wrong, I am by no means drudging through the last chapters of my present tome. The misleading title, “Sex at Dawn” makes it sound like, as a homemaker, I’m sitting around all day popping bonbons, devouring bad novels. Not true, not true I say! ”Sex at Dawn” is an anthropological discussion about the evolution of modern human sexuality. Yes, I am that big of a nerd. Shaddap! Somehow, I found a fictional series to insert into my reading list, and I cannot stop edging towards that next advance. I haven’t read any fiction since last summer. A “fault” for which Colby gives me endless grief. Next up: “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”. I hear good things. If it’s that awesome, I may have to read the whole series without going back to any science books in between!
Aaah. Antici…

…pation!
